For those who want a little extra help with their KiwiSaver, we work with a network of Facilitators who walk new clients through the process.
Meet Evan! One of the experienced Facilitators we partner with. He's been busy helping clients conduct reviews of their KiwiSaver accounts to make sure they're getting the most out of their investment - read what he has to say!
Why do you think introducing a kōura KiwiSaver review is important?
Introducing a kōura KiwiSaver review is just as important as asking them if they need insurance advice. It’s an important part of the client’s financial stability. If anything, it’s just a matter of planting that thought seed to get the client(s) thinking about how they can maximise their KiwiSaver funds in order to achieve their next important goal in life - whether it be purchasing their first home or retirement.
Even if they don’t end up signing up, the fact that they’ve thought about their KiwiSaver fund is a win.
How do your clients respond when asked if they would like a review?
I haven’t come across a client yet who isn’t happy to complete a review. Most clients find the review easy to complete and find the information provided at the end of the review is informative.
Do you have any tips for other financial advisers wanting to start the process?
Some advisers may think that KiwiSaver is a bit of a distraction to their day to day business. However, if you add KiwiSaver to your checklist when dealing with clients it is actually really easy to manage. I normally ask them if they need assistance with KiwiSaver at the same time as I ask them about their insurance. It also builds credibility with your client because you then become the ‘go to' person for all things finance-related.
A fair number of Kiwis are unaware of the fact that a few smart decisions early in your KiwiSaver journey can make all the difference in achieving your KiwiSaver goal, whether that be for your first home or retirement - getting good advice is an essential part of that.
If you would be keen to review your KiwiSaver, then just let us know and we can put you in touch with Evan!
